The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program

(Sugar • Temperature • Airway • Blood Pressure • Lab Work • Emotional Support)

The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program is a nationally recognized, evidence-based neonatal education course designed to equip healthcare professionals with the essential knowledge and clinical skills needed to stabilize sick and premature infants during the critical post-resuscitation and pre-transport period. This course provides a structured, systematic approach to neonatal stabilization, ensuring that nurses and providers can deliver safe, timely, and high-quality care in emergency and transport situations.

Developed by neonatal experts, S.T.A.B.L.E. focuses on the most common challenges seen in neonatal emergencies. Through a combination of didactic instruction, case-based learning, and hands-on skill application, participants learn how to recognize early signs of neonatal compromise, initiate life-saving interventions, and prepare infants for safe transfer to higher-level care facilities.

The program encompasses six core modulesSugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support—each addressing a critical component of neonatal stabilization. Participants gain practical insights into glucose regulation, thermoregulation, respiratory support, cardiovascular management, interpretation of essential laboratory studies, and the importance of family-centered communication during crises.

Upon completion of this course, learners will be equipped to:

  • Perform rapid assessments and initiate stabilization steps for neonates in distress.

  • Identify and manage common conditions such as hypoglycemia, respiratory distress, and shock.

  • Implement evidence-based interventions to optimize neonatal outcomes during the first “golden hours” of care.

  • Communicate effectively with transport teams and family members during emergency situations.

This course is ideal for Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Paramedics, Midwives, Physicians, and all clinical staff involved in newborn care within Labor and Delivery units, NICUs, Emergency Departments, Birthing Centers, and Transport Teams.

The Stable Foundation Course must be completed prior to starting the Stable Course. Please email the certificate of completion to be add to the course roster. The Stable Foundation course is included in the fee. The link will be emailed to you once registration is completed.

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive S.T.A.B.L.E. Provider Certification, valid for the standard renewal period as determined by the national S.T.A.B.L.E. Program guidelines.
